Plum Heavies - Mothers sometimes made Heavies from left-over pastry into which dried fruit was pressed.   They were then given to the children as snacks, so they were always small.

1 lb. flour
4 oz. butter
2 oz. lard
4 oz. sugar
4 oz. currants
Milk
Set oven to 375ºF. Rub the fats into the flour and add the sugar and fruit.  Mix into a soft dough with the milk.  Roll out to about ½ inch thickness and cut into small rounds with a small pastry cutter.  Bake for about 10 - 15 minutes until light brown.
